Origin of Shinmael

Shinma: (Translation from Japanese): god or demon
Suffix -el: (loosely translated from Hebrew): in God

The demon slouched in the dirty alley, waiting. Occasionally he squinted and peered up at the clouds, then looked down and spat a dark glob of phlegm on the brick next to him. He had been here a while, and was making a game out of spittle patterns on the wall. He had resolved that if he managed to spell out his name he was done waiting for the Fall.

First look: Valentine’s event

This from the message boards: Either the devs are moer sloppy than average OR they’re doing quite a bit of covert marketing under the guise of ‘Ooops!’
I vote marketing. Regardless, here is our first look at the valentine’s event this year.

While checking things out villain-side, I had the strangest urge to go check out Pocket D. Y’know, see if any undocumented changes had taken place. Nothing was out of the ordinary until I decided to click on DJ Zero, who proceeded to offer me missions! Keep in mind that Smashmouth had already earned his toga and badges during the last Valentine’s event, so this wasn’t a case of having missions left in queue.

COMBINED NOTES

Powers

• Burn: Normalized all versions of ‘Burn’ to now have a recharge time of 25 seconds. This is a reduction for Tankers, and an increase for Brutes and Blasters.

Made changes to the following graphics effects for performance improvements:
• Psychic Shockwave
• Drain Psyche
• Oppressive Gloom
• Death Shroud
• Whirling Hands
• Foot Stomp
• Stalagmite
• Circle of Thorn Crystals
• Devouring Earth Eminators
• Poison Gas Arrow.

• Brute and Scrapper versions of Invincibility taunt effect should now work properly.

• Animate Stone’s attack powers now use knock down, not knock back. Really. We mean it this time!

All about INVENTIONS

You wanted more info? You got it, courtesy of Slodeine on the boards. Since I HIGHLY doubt this was supposed to go live yet, I have copied the entire post here against the possibility that that entry may be locked or deleted. ENJOY!!!

I saw a post saying that the bug in Steel Canyon’s flight ceiling was back (you can fly over the War Walls and down under the map) and he had visited the University. Being the curious (okay, downright obsessive) sort, I logged on and went to try it out. As it is now, you can’t actually enter the University (it boots you back above the map), but you can click anything on the edges of the Univesity (above, below, and on the sides). There are various Professors inside as well as 2 Guidance Counselors, and one Admissions Officer Lenk.

Meh, never mind…

Edited:

There WERE screenshots for 5th column - BUT they were mixed in old ones with the new shots. However there is one actual new shot in here - robot wings. Guess that will have to hold me.

I do hate Gamespot. That is all.

Issue 9 - Breakthrough first hints

Interesting - a new Hami raid for Villains? A task force for Heroes? Sounds like they’re swapping content (any chance they could make the end game content fun while they’re at it? Tsu would love to do Hami raids if they didn’t suck so much…)

Issue 9: “Breakthrough”

SUMMARY:
Issue 9: Breakthrough, the ninth free expansion to the City of Heroesฎ universe, introduces an entirely new level of depth and gameplay to the franchise. Players acquire and invent new “loot,” and have the option to buy and sell it using the new hero and villain auction houses. Along with Issue 9’s other great features, this brand new system results in a wealth of new gameplay for players.

Clouds?

Clouds Over Founder Falls

Ok, I never noticed these before. Also, there’s a halo around the moon. Cool.
